Games 1-3 Summary
We completed our 3rd game of the 2006 season today. I’ve been lagging a bit on posting up game details. Last week, games 1 and 2 saw beautiful weather after about a month of rain and clouds. We originally planned to start in early April but mother nature was not cooperative.
Game 1 saw turnout of 10 die hard fans and we played on a small course. The Great Meadows field was not mowed and we had some geese and ducks wonder around our end zone. Due to the smaller field, we were able to get 3 games in before 7:30pm and it was not too tiring.
Game 2 had about 11 people, the field was halfway mowed on the outside so we still had to play in ankle high grass. Quite a few people complained about the grass being itchy and sticky, but sucked it up and played 2 games of 7. The sun was out, but we had to contend with high winds.
Game 3, we had enough for 7v7 + 2 subs. Quite a turn out. A person in from San Diego not affiliated with Yahoo at all found our Y! Group online and showed up for the game! Need to get his name on Thurs. if he shows. Also, we had a visitor from Bangalore at the game. She came with Bharat and played quite well. We had 4, count’em FOUR, girls on the field today and they all played very well. We still miss Sarah and quite a few people asked about where Brian has been hiding. We played 2 games to 7 and 1 game to 5. By the time the last goal was scored, we had trouble finding the cones and my body complained mightly of my lack of winter exercise. I hope this goes away by the time May rolls by.
Just a thought, anyone interested in getting some soccer jerseys? I found this item on amazon,
